6 Tips for Healthy Skin Care

Here are 6 Tips for Healthy Skin Care and some facts about your skin you may not know. Many people don’t know this fun fact about our bodies, but your skin is actually the largest organ of the human body! With this in mind, it’s clear to see why it’s important to take care of your skin as best you can to maintain its health. From the initial protection of the skin, to the maintenance involved in making sure your skin remains in good condition, here are some tips for healthy skin care:

1. Protection

The first step to maintaining healthy skin starts with protecting it before any damage can occur. This means making sure to use sunscreen when you know you’ll be out in the sun at any point. Using sunscreen is not only smart to use for keeping your skin in good shape, but it’s also important to protect against the harmful UV rays of the sun.

2. Skin Food

Did you know that there are actually certain foods that can improve your skin’s health? For example, almonds contain essential fatty acids, which help to protect against inflammation of the skin. This inflammation can cause fine lines, sagging, and blotchiness. Also, salmon, tuna, and halibut are great sources of the same fatty acids if you’re in the mood for fish!

3. Moisturize

It’s also important to use moisturizing lotion on your skin as much as needed. This lotion helps to do as its name implies, keep moisture in your skin. When your skin dries out, it can begin to peel, become blotchy, and diminishes the overall health of your skin.

4. De-stress

Individuals who have high levels of stress will likely spike the hormone production that leads to breakouts, or even worse, can lead to conditions like psoriasis. Controlling your stress levels will not only help to keep your skin calm from acne and an oily surface, but it’s simply a better way of life.

5. Bedside Care

By the end of our busy days, it’s sometimes difficult to have the energy, or even remember, to cap the night off with our skin care regimen. To avoid missing the evening routine, store your skin care products in your nightstand or on a desk directly next to your bed. You’ll be sure to remember and have the necessities at your side every night.

6. Exercise

Exercise and lifting weights is another great way to keep your skin healthy. Strength training produces firmer skin all over your body, which turns into more supportive muscle tone. Exercise is also great for getting rid of the harmful stress hormones that you don’t want affecting your skin.
